RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Bassist Accuses Estranged Wife Of 'Viciously Assaulting' Him, Is Granted Restraining Order
December 2, 2018According to The Blast, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, AUDIOSLAVE and PROPHETS OF RAGE bassist Tim Commerford was granted a restraining order against his estranged wife and has accused her of "viciously assaulting" him, just one day after she filed for divorce from the 50-year-old rocker.
Tim filed the request Friday for a domestic violence prevention restraining order against Aleece Commerford, claiming she showed up "uninvited and unannounced" to a home he was staying at, and attacked the bassist with her iPhone and "fists," causing severe injuries to his face and body.
Tim provided bloody photos of the injuries as evidence in the court filing. You can see one of the pictures at The Blast.
The order granted Friday in a Los Angeles court says Aleece must 100 yards away from Tim and any venue where his band is booked to play or rehearse. She is also ordered not to disparage him in front of their children, and not interfere with visitation to the children.
Aleece Commerford filed documents on November 28 to end the couple's 17-year marriage. They were married in 2001 and have two sons together, Xavier and Quentin. In the documents obtained by The Blast, Aleece listed the date of separation as November 27, and is asking for physical custody of the two children. She is also seeking spousal support from Tim.
The family lives in Malibu. Aleece reportedly works in the medical field, and as an AIDS activist. It's unclear what caused the split between the couple.
On Friday, Tim publicly confirmed his split with his wife, saying in a statement: "After 17 years of marriage to Aleece Dimas, I am saddened to announce our divorce. This decision was made after much careful thought and consideration.
"I want to send my deepest appreciation to my family and friends who have supported us through these changes. We remain committed and loving parents to our two boys.
"Our family asks in advance for your kindness and sensitivity at this difficult time."
In a 2016 interview with Forbes, Tim stated about his family, "I love being a dad, I love my wife and my kids are amazing to me and I love the challenge of making music and family work. They influence me musically and emotionally."
Commerford and the rest of PROPHETS OF RAGE are reportedly preparing to release their second album sometime in early 2019.
